Keeping your baby’s pacifier clean is super important for protecting them from germs and keeping them healthy. Regular cleaning helps ensure your little one stays safe and sound. In this blog, we’ll show you how to easily clean your FRIGG pacifier and share tips on how often to do it based on your baby’s age.
How Often Should You Clean Your Pacifier?
The frequency of cleaning your pacifier largely depends on your baby’s age. Babies, especially new-borns, have delicate immune systems and require more regular cleaning. For younger babies under 3 months, the pacifiers should be cleaned frequently. Immediate cleaning should follow any fall onto the floor or once a day is recommended, following our step-by-step instructions below.
Once your baby is over 3 months old, the immune system is more developed, and therefore rinsing the pacifier under cold water is okay if the pacifier falls on the floor. Run the pacifier under boiling water once a day or soak in boiling water as we describe below, for a deeper clean.
Step-by-Step Pacifier Cleaning Instructions
Follow these steps to properly clean your FRIGG pacifier:
- Place the pacifier in a clean bowl.
- Make sure the bowl is free of any contaminants before starting the cleaning process.
- Pour boiling water over the pacifier.
- Use freshly boiled water, but don’t boil the pacifier itself. Boiling the pacifier in a pot can damage it due to prolonged exposure to high heat.
- Let the pacifier soak for approximately 5 minutes.
- This will kill most of the bacteria and viruses that could be present.
- Remove the pacifier and let it air dry.
- Ensure the pacifier is completely dry before use to avoid any residual water entering your baby's mouth.
- Squeeze out any excess water.
- Once the pacifier has cooled down, gently squeeze the nipple to remove excess water that may have entered through the valve. Some condensation may remain, but don’t worry—it’s not harmful.
Important Tips and Cautions
Do not boil the pacifier in a pot: FRIGG pacifiers are not designed to withstand direct boiling; it will ruin them. Instead always pour boiling water over the pacifier in a clean bowl.
Avoid UV sterilizers, washing machines, and harsh chemicals. Using such methods can damage the pacifier, reducing the effectiveness and safety.
Replace Your Pacifier Regularly
Even with proper cleaning, pacifiers should be replaced regularly to ensure they remain safe for your baby. Check for signs of wear and tear, and swap out old pacifiers for new ones as needed. We recommend replacing your pacifiers after 4-8 weeks of use regardless of wear and tear.
